Transforming Problems Into Fertile Soils & A Carbon Sink

MISSION

Welcome to our regenerative innovation in the heart of Sri Lanka!
We turn rice husks, a byproduct of the rice milling process, and invasive plants into a solution for a circular economy.

Why?

Rice husks accumulate in abundance every day. Insufficient disposal options often lead to landfills or incineration, which is harmful to both
— people and the environment.

The invasive water hyacinth is growing alarmingly rapid, faster than bamboo. It threatens freshwater ecosystems, and adversely impacts people and businesses that are dependent on water use.

Comprehensive, decentralized, and affordable solutions are deficient - until now.
We're here to change that!

How?

These wastes and weeds are the backbone of our mission.

To us, both are unused resources.  So, we invented technology that turns water hyacinth and rice husks into biochar.

Biochar is created from plant material heated at high temperatures without much oxygen. This process turns it into high-quality charcoal.

It is a win-win-win-win concept: waste utilization, regenerating soil, increasing food security, and capturing carbon in the process.

Headquartered in Sri Lanka, we empower individuals and small businesses to make a difference, by focusing on decentralized, scalable, and affordable technology in particularly climate-vulnerable regions. This approach ensures communities, however small and rural, can be part of the change, fostering independence and resilience - by and for everyone.

How can I purchase biochar?

Soil Regeneration

By producing biochar, we're not just managing waste but also cultivating a powerhouse for soil health! Its porous structure improves the soil properties: like a sponge it absorbs water and nutrients and slowly releases them when needed, aka. slow food for plants.

This results in plants requiring less additional water and fertilizer, while growing larger and being more resilient.
Brought to soil, our biochar enhances soil regeneration, reduces fertilization needs and increases independence on fertilization while contributing to climate change resilience.

Our Biochar facilitates sustainable resource utilization and creates incentives to engage in a circular economy.

Carbon Sink

That's not all about it: We are net-negative!

With every ton of biochar we sequester over 2 tons of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions. We sequester atmospheric CO2 that was first incorporated into plant tissue and through the conversion to biochar stays in the soil stable for 100+ years.

We commit to permanently removing CO2e from the atmosphere, while offering solutions for problematic biomass. This benefits the local environment and global climate, while strengthening sustainable agriculture and food systems. A win for people and planet.

Your journey for a greener tomorrow begins here.

Social Impact

Our approach is built on collaborating with local actors at a small business level. This is how we ensure sustainable development with significant social impact. We want to improve local food security and increase the income of those involved in agriculture.

Let's make a difference together!
